The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG)
The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) is the central Austrian organisation for promotion of research and innovation and offers a wide range of research promotion programmes:
General Programmes: offer bottom-up promotion and are Austria’s most important source of finance for research and development projects carried out by industry.
Structural Programmes: strengthen the infrastructure for research and innovation in Austria. Particular objectives are to improve the co-operation between science & industry (e.g. with Kplus the Austrian Competence Centre Programme) and to increase the innovative potential of the regions. The Programme management is supplemented by a range of additional projects like designing new funding initiatives, accompanying research, feasibility studies, evaluations and co-ordinating and implementing of international projects.
Thematic Programmes: define selected national priorities to encourage research on future key topics. Main objective is to build up critical mass for these topics having a strategic impact on the economy by developing new technologies.
European and International Programmes: offer consulting and know-how for Austrian companies and institutions participating in international research and development programmes.
Aeronautics and Space Agency serves as a focal point for the coordination of aerospace activities in Austria and is the Austrian link to international aerospace activities and other space agencies.
