Greetings
It’s our pleasure to send you the
first newsletter of the ERA-NET COMPERA, a
European network of funding agencies that
support Competence Research Centres
(CRCs). This newsletter targets in first
instance managers of CRCs, RTD policy makers and
CRC programme managers. It informs you on our
activities towards enhanced coordination and
cooperation between the funding programmes for
CRCs and between CRCs themselves. In addition,
it keeps you informed on national and European
developments related to CRC policies and
support.
This first issue focuses on the
joint activities that are being developed by the
COMPERA network: The selection of these
activities was based on an extensive
consultation amongst CRC managers and CRC
programme managers. We also bring you news from
Norway, Sweden and The Netherlands on new CRCs
and CRC-events.
We hope that the
activities of COMPERA are of interest to you and
that we will meet you either through our e-tools
or in person at one of our events. Please contact us if you have any
comments, either positive or negative,
questions, or if you would like to have your
news listed.

01 Crucial
milestone for COMPERA: joint activities between
CRCs
COMPERA,
the network of programmes that are funding
Competence Research Centres (CRCs) within the
framework of the creation of the European
Research Area (ERA), has achieved a crucial
milestone. An in-depth consultation round of
identification and analysis of the different
cooperation and coordination options between the
participating CRCs and their programmes, has led
to the development of a series of joint
activities. The programme managers as well as
participating CRCs will undoubtedly benefit from
these proposed activities. The launch of an
extensive portal website is just one of many
initiatives that will create exciting new ways
to enhance cooperation between the participating
CRCs.
